A construction worker died in North Oakland Thursday morning.
The medical examiner's office has identified the victim as 47-year-old John J Allen of McKees Rocks.
It happened just before 8 a.m. on the 400 block of Melwood Avenue.
Pittsburgh first responders learned a construction worker fell from scaffolding and found him with “significant, grave injuries.”
He was pronounced dead at 8:01.
Witnesses tell police the worker was on the outside of the building and fell from nine stories high.
Melwood Avenue is closed from around 450 Melwood to Baum Boulevard while an investigation ongoing.
