A Chinese military contractor has released a video of its new military technology, and while it's not at the level of the T-800 from "Terminator," it's still just as terrifying.
The video from Kestrel Defense Blood-Wing shows off its robot attack dog armed with a light machine gun being dropped off by a drone. The post was made on China's social media platform Weibo.
The drone in the video can be seen hovering over a building before dropping the dog robot onto the roof. Once the drone makes its drop, the robot dog can be seen getting up and appearing to scan for targets.
A report from Fox News identified the weapon on the dog as a Chinese QBB-97 light machine gun. If that is the weapon, it is capable of firing 650 rounds per minute at ranges of 400 meters.
"War dogs descending from the sky, air assault, Red Wing Forward heavy-duty drones deliver combat robot dogs, which can be directly inserted into the weak link behind the enemy to launch a surprise attack or can be placed on the roof of the enemy to occupy the commanding heights to suppress firepower. And ground troops [can] conduct a three-dimensional pincer attack on the enemy in the building," the description reads, Business Insider reported.
The post from Kestrel Defense Blood-Wing shared that the weapon can "launch a surprise attack" with ease, making it a valuable weapon in potential military scenarios.
Fox News reported that the devices aren't fully autonomous, as they still need a human at the controls. Still, military analysts fear that the possibility of autonomous robots isn't far away.
This isn't the company's first time using robot dogs either, as it posted in August footage of a robot dog carrying a munitions launcher.
Kestrel Defense Blood-Wing isn't even the first weapons manufacturer to put guns on robot dogs, as the U.S. company Ghost Robotics did so in October 2021.
