Middlebury College in Vermont has a bit of a problem: there are just too many students.
Normally they’ll have around 2,600 students enrolled at a time, but enrollment this fall could be closer to 3,000 kids.
A spokesperson for the school says this is a byproduct of the pandemic, as the surge is from students returning from being off campus during Covid.
So, to combat the huge influx of students, Middlebury College is offering an incentive for upperclassmen: Don’t come to class, and we’ll pay you.
Juniors and seniors can accept $10,000 to delay their educations and make it easier for Middlebury College to accommodate their growing student body.
Per Fox News, Middlebury College officials hope to have at least 30 students take them up on the offer.
