CVS is the latest pharmacy chain to pull some common decongestants from shelves.

CVS says it is pulling some of the most common decongestants with phenylephrine, the only active ingredient from its shelves and will no longer sell them.

The move comes after a panel of advisers to U.S. health regulators raised doubts over the efficacy of the ingredient.

So, what should you do for that stuffed up nose?

“Use a warm towel, get inhalation to loosen you up because its due to the fact that you need to loosen up the mucus that’s in there and decongestants . . . do not work, people actually get addicted to them,” said Dr. Kevin Wong on The Big K Morning Show.

Wong says the drug has been mixed with every other possible drug you’d use for cold symptoms and that’s a problem.

Among the popular medications being pulled: Dayquil, Mucinex and Theraflu.
