5 people are said to be dead after a private jet owned by a NASCAR driver crashed at a North Carolina Airport, this morning. The Aviation Safety Network says, a Cessna aircraft crashed at Statesville Regional Airport, less than 50 miles north of Charlotte.
The ASN says, 6 people were on board and five people have been confirmed dead. The jet was registered to NASCAR legend Greg Biffle. Preliminary information says the jet was trying to return to the runway following an issue during departure.
Officials have not yet identified the deceased and it has not been confirmed if Biffle was aboard at the time of the crash. There's also been no word yet on the surviving victim's condition, as of the time of this report.
