A day like "Twosday" doesn't come around too often.
Today's date is February 22, 2022 or 2/22/22. It's considered a palindrome because it can be read the same way both backward and forward.
In fact, each day for the rest of the month is a palindrome -- 2/23/22, 2/24/22, 2/25/22, 2/26/22, 2/27/22 and 2/28/22.
But back to Twosday. Today's palindrome is extra special because the date has all twos and it falls on a Tuesday. Dr. Aziz Inan, a palindrome enthusiast and electrical engineering professor at the University of Portland, Oregon, said its the most exceptional date in over a decade.
"I feel that these dates have magical power in terms of getting people's attention, no matter what age," Inan told CNN.
Some cultures believe that palindrome dates are a sign of good luck, according to The Farmer's Almanac, which is why many people choose these dates -- and especially Twosday -- for wedding celebrations.
A record number of couples are expected to make life-long commitments today. Dates with repeating digits are always popular for weddings, but the county clerk who presides over license in Las Vegas is expecting to have one of the busiest days ever on Twosday, according to The Washington Post. The most popular wedding day ever in Las Vegas was on July 7, 2007 (7/7/07).
It's "nacho" average Twosday, either. On top of today being Taco Tuesday, February 2 is also National Margarita Day. Several restaurants -- including Chili's, On The Border, Bahama Breeze, and BJ's Restaurants and Brewhouse -- have discount prices on margaritas today.
It's also "Timbits Tuesday" at Tim Hortons, where you can get a 10 pack of Timbits for just $1. You have to be a Tims Rewards Members or order online to redeem this offer.
Ruby Tuesday's is taking full advantage of the day, offering special $2 deals on draft beer and mini margaritas, $2 garden bar add-on and dessert with the purchase of an entrée, or a $22 deal for an appetizer and two entrées.
Red Lobster also has a special "Two for Tuesday" deal today, with two lobster, shrimp and salmon dinners for $49.99.
If a Whopper is more your style, head to Burger King. Royal Perks members can get 22% off any purchase of $2 or more made through the BK app or online.
Buffalo Wild Wings also has a special "Wings Tuesday" deal, offering buy one get one 50% off traditional wings.
Grubhub is offering a 22% discount with promo code 22222.
Google also has a little surprise for the day. If you search "2/22/22," confetti will fall down your screen with a special message.
With a day as rare and special as Twosday, you just have to celebrate. The next time all of these conditions align in the same way to create another Twosday is in the year 2422, 400 years from now, according to the National Weather Service.
