A recall affecting nearly 2,400 pounds of Oscar Mayer ready-to-eat cold cuts was announced by Kraft Heinz Foods Company earlier this week after concerns of cross-contamination with under-processed foods was discovered.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture posted the recall for the 16-ounce packages of Oscar Mayer Ham & Cheese Loaf products.

The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service was informed by Kraft Heinz that the affected products were sliced on equipment also used for under-processed products without having been cleaned.

Due to the possibility of cross-contamination, the recall was issued.

So far, no consumers have reported any illnesses as a result of the risk, but those who have purchased affected cold cuts are instructed to throw out or return the items for a refund.

Recalled packages have the establishment number “Est. 537V” on the USDA mark of inspection and have codes reading “07 Feb 2023 20:40 7B” through “07 Feb 2023 22:16 7B” on their labels.

The meat was produced on Oct. 10, 2022, and shipped to distribution centers in Ohio and Virginia for further distribution to retail locations.

As for where exactly the recalled products were being sold, a spokesperson for Kraft Heinz Foods could not confirm but said “limited” stores in Ohio and Virginia had stocked them.

“We’re actively working with retail partners and distributors to remove potentially impacted product from circulation, and we’re cooperating with USDA recommendations and guidance,” a spokesperson for the company told Nexstar in an emailed statement.

The USDA said those who made a sandwich before seeing the recall and are worried about getting sick are told to contact their healthcare providers.

Consumers who would like to know more about the recall are advised to contact Kraft Heinz Food Company at lynsey.elve@kraftheinz.com, or by phone at 1-866-572-3806.
