The old landside terminal at Pittsburgh International Airport has been vacant since the new terminal opened last fall, but it could make a roaring comeback… as a movie production location.
Now called “Terminal P”, the 440,000-square-foot, three-story space is being billed as a place for a “blockbuster film”, television show or digital content to be filmed.
On its website, Terminal P also promotes the terminal’s 60-foot ceilings, close proximity to the new airport, nearby hotel and 5,000 film professionals in the Pittsburgh are ready to work.
The project is part of the $1.57 billion renovation of the Airport.
Actor, singer, writer, director and Pittsburgh native Billy ports says the space will “rival the world’s best.”
Pittsburgh has gained attention as a place for Hollywood productions to come for filming, seeing success over the past few decades with shows like “Mindhunter” and currently, “Mayor of Kingstown”.
Hit HBO Max show, “The PITT” is mainly filmed in Los Angeles but all exterior shots are filmed in Pittsburgh.
Movies that have filmed in Pittsburgh over the years include, “A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood”, “Adventureland”, “Jack Reacher”, “The Perks of Being a Wallflower”, “Fences” and more.
