Despite her recent approval-rating tumble, Vice President Kamala Harris would seem to be the Democrats’ choice to run for the Presidency in 2024 if incumbent Joe Biden chooses not to run for re-election. That’s according to a new poll by The Hill/Harris X.

Harris led the field of possible candidates with 13% of respondents backing the nation’s first female VP.

Former first lady Michelle Obama, who has never held public office and said numerous times she doesn’t plan to, ran second in the poll at 10%.

“I wouldn’t ask my children to do this again because when you run for higher office, it’s not just you. It’s your whole family,” Obama told The Independent in 2017.

Registering in the single-digits in support were a host of other Democratic candidates from the most recent Presidential election: Sen.
Bernie Sanders, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Sen. Cory Booker, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and businessman Andrew Yang.

Meanwhile, another 13% of respondents said they would back someone not listed in the poll.

It may all be a moot point. Biden is reportedly planning on running for a second term. However, already the nation’s oldest sitting President, Biden is set to turn 82 years old just days after the 2024 election and has also, as of late, seen his own approval-numbers plummet.

Still, there’s a fair chance the nation could be headed to a second straight Biden-Trump showdown over the White House as former President Donald Trump continues to hedge towards running for a third time.

“A very interesting time in our Country, but do not worry, we will be great again—and we will all do it together,” Trump wrote in a Thanksgiving message last week. “America will never fail, and we will never allow it to go in the wrong direction. Too many generations of greatness are counting on us. Enjoy your Thanksgiving knowing that a wonderful future lies ahead!”

Any announcement from Trump is not expected until after next November’s midterm elections.
