Former President Donald Trump shared once again last week that his ongoing hush money trial in New York has come from the White House, saying that he is owed an apology for the charade and the charges should be dropped.
Trump shared his thoughts in a post to his social media site Truth Social, alleging that the hush money case, where he is facing 34 counts of falsifying business records over an alleged hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels.
“There is virtually universal agreement of the fact that the Alvin Bragg Witch Hunt against me, a SHAM TRIAL instigated and prosecuted directly from the inner hall so the White House and DOJ, should be immediately dropped, with apologies to me and all of the others who have had to live with this Election Interfering Hoax against Crooked Joe Biden’s Political Opponent,” Trump said on Truth Social on Friday. “Not nice!!!”
Trump is now more than a month into his trial and continues to maintain his innocence.
Other top Republicans have also supported Trump’s claims of innocence, with House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA), Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), former Republican nominee candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, and more, all venturing to New York last week in a show of support.
“I do have a lot of surrogates, and they are speaking very beautifully,” Trump said Tuesday morning before entering the courthouse. “They come from all over Washington, and they’re highly respected, and they think this is the biggest scam they’ve ever seen.”
While outside the courtroom on Tuesday, Johnson argued that Trump was being forced into the “sham trial” so that he wasn’t on the campaign trail.
“The people are losing faith right now in this country, in our institutions,” Johnson said. “They’re losing faith in our system of justice. And the reason for that is because they see it being abused as it is being done here in New York.”
As for the White House and President Biden, remarks about Trump’s trial have been few and far between. However, Biden did take a shot at Trump last week after challenging him to two debates.
Biden released a video pitching the debates to Trump, suggesting they could find time in the middle of the week as he knows Trump is “free on Wednesdays.” The remark referenced the only day of the week Trump doesn’t have to appear in court in New York for his trial.
Biden’s team quickly began capitalizing on the statement, releasing shirts with the slogan for sale on Biden’s campaign website, priced at $32 apiece.
As for the apology, the White House has yet to comment.
