Both children are under 16 and were flying as unaccompanied minors from Jacksonville to Syracuse, N.Y., to visit their father.
The children’s layover flight was delayed and later canceled completely.
American Airlines told the mother that there would be “a nice room” that was available for unaccompanied minors with “beds and their own bathroom,” according to the lawsuit.
But the suit alleges that those were not the accommodations provided and that the room her children were given was “akin to a jail cell, without any blankets, pillows, or toiletries”
Additionally, the suit alleges that the children went hours without being given food or something to drink and that the mother couldn’t even contact her children because American Airlines misplaced them.
