Following former President Donald Trump’s announcement that he will again run for president in the 2024 election, several Democrats and Republicans have spoken out on the decision.

As Trump was speaking from his Florida Mar-a-Lago residence on Tuesday, President Joe Biden tweeted a video from his personal account, slamming Trump, saying that he “failed America.”

The video showed several clips from Trump’s presidency, ending with a montage from the Jan. 6, 2021, riots at the U.S. Capitol, while audio from Trump says that he will “treat those people from Jan. 6 fairly.”

But it wasn't just the Democratic leader who decided to take shots at the former president, as Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger (IL.) shared a video with the caption, “Trump is an abuser and a conman.”

Kinzinger shared in his video that Trump doesn't care about those he says he does, saying when he “sees people, all he sees is dollar signs.”

Even noted Republican personality and founder of the DailyWire, Ben Shapiro, shared on Twitter that Trump announcing his candidacy this early was “odd.”

“Trump's move to launch in November 2022 is fascinating and odd. It's like going all in on a pair of sixes in under the gun position before the flop,” Shapiro tweeted. “Everyone else just gets to sit there for eight months and see how all of this plays.”

The announcement from Trump comes as he is being investigated by the Department of Justice and after the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack served him a historic subpoena.

Former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki also took to Twitter during the speech, reaffirming that investigations will continue into the former president.

“For anyone who needs to hear this — Trump announcing he is running for president does not have a legal impact on investigations. No one at DOJ watched that speech and ripped up all of the work they have been pursuing,” Paski tweeted.

Speaking on Tuesday night, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), who also serves as the vice chair of the House select committee which recently subpoenaed Trump, said that this wasn’t the first time the former president seemed to be “detached from reality.”

“There’s no question that he’s unfit for office, and I feel confident that he will never be president again,” Cheney said.

Trump made his announcement on Tuesday night, saying “America's comeback starts right now." But as several polls show, he is no longer the clear-cut candidate for the republicans, and others, like Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, have gained support in the party.
