A new coronavirus vaccine that would fight all coronaviruses? It could happen.
Dr. James Crowe, Director of the Vanderbilt Vaccine Center, is on the forefront of a groundbreaking vaccine that could treat all strains of the coronavirus.
Fresh off his interview with "60 Minutes" on CBS this past weekend, Dr. Crowe spoke with Larry and Kevin on the News Radio KDKA morning show.
"Rather than trying to make a solution for each one that pops up and chase the problem, we're trying to get ahead of the problem and make a single vaccine or a single antibody treatment that will prevent all of the Coronaviruses that have happened in the past and all that might happen in the future."
Dr. Crowe says within one year or so, many investigators are going to have at least candidate vaccines, things that we can try to be ready for another coronavirus that might pop up.
Crowe believes we need a universal flu vaccine because most experts think if another pandemic occurs, it's going to be a strain of influenza.
