PITTSBURGH (100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA) The Pennsylvania Department of Health Saturday confirmed that there are an additional 9,834 cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 548,489.
Of the current cases, 6,147 individuals are hospitalized, doubling the peak from spring.
1,232 patients are in intensive care units with virus complications.
The Health department also added 217 new deaths as a result from coronavirus, bringing the death toll in Pennsylvania to 13,825.
Most deaths and hospitalizations are attributed to patients over the age of 65.
