PITTSBURGH (100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA) Governor Tom Wolf is upping the pressure for better worker benefits in a new proposal.
The new proposed regulations are to support tipped workers.
Currently, tipped workers must receive a minimum of $30 a month in tips for employers to reduce their hourly pay from minimum wage.
Wolf wants to increase that minimum to $135 a month.
"Workers are in the drivers seat, there are a lot of job opportunities out there and a lot of options and workers can afford to be choosy so we need to respond to that."
A commission will review the proposal. Wolf also renewed his call to the legislature to up the minimum wage and guarantee paid sick leave.
