PITTSBURGH (Newsradio KDKA) - Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf is offering five days of paid leave to state workers who get fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
The five days of paid leave can be used between December 20 and March 31. Employees who don’t use the days by then will be paid for them.
An employee who has verified their fully vaccinated status will automatically receive the days. State Treasurer Stacy Garrity is against the move, saying it could cost the state more than $105 million. However, Gov. Wolf says he does not see what all the fuss is about.
"Making employees feel safe is one issue that I think we have to grapple with, so I think it was a pretty common sense thing," Wolf said during the KDKA Radio Morning Show Tuesday.
The leader of the commonwealth said this plan will actually save money since there'll be higher productivity and less absenteeism as a result of less sick days.
