New statewide restrictions and possible shutdowns are just around the corner.
Governor Wolf was scheduled to announce his new orders Wednesday, but has postponed the announcement until Thursday.
Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald says state and local officials are still reviewing data and hearing from industries that are lobbying to stay open through the holidays.
"I think this is a fluid situation, I think there were probably plans to do it at a certain time, maybe they wanted to take a little more time to hear arguments that could be made and some of these arguments may be very good," said Fitzgerald.
The new orders could go into effect this weekend and may impact restaurants, bars, schools, casinos, museums, theaters, bowling alleys, and gatherings such as weddings, showers and parties.
The new mitigations efforts are intended to curb socializing and celebrations over the holidays.
