State lawmakers in Harrisburg are floating a $4-billion aid package to help Pennsylvania’s hardest-hit businesses and organizations in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Democrats are leading charge in helping Pennsylvanians stay on track during the Coronavirus Pandemic, but they face challenges in getting the bill passed from their colleagues across the aisle.
Senate Democratic Leader Jay Costa told KDKA Radio's Marty Griffin, "We don't have republican support, Marty. We rolled this out of Friday because we believe it needs to be continued to be discussed."
Costa said his party has ideas to help fund the measure. "We cna reutilize gaming tax revenues, for example, to pay the debt service on this. It's flexible and it can modified to draw it down later to be able to reach consensus."
Costa adds the bill’s entire trajectory could change if Washington steps in with a stimulus package of their own.
