The two-term governor says he's proudest of improvements made in education, employment and the state's financial status.

“All those things have made Pennsylvania a place where people want to live,” said Governor Wolf. “And when they live and work here they’re paying taxes and so our revenues have been really good.”

Still, he feels there are some things left on the table.

“The way we fund our roads and bridges now is through gasoline tax, which is highest or second highest in the United States. It’s ridiculous.” Explained Wolf, “We shouldn’t be charging people gasoline tax at all. We have to figure [out] a way to pay for these roads and bridges because no ones going to give them to us for free and we have to do it in a way that recognizes the people getting into fuel efficient cars.”

His tenure didn't come without political battles, Wolf used his veto pen more than any other governor since Milton Shapp.

Many of them coming during the pandemic, where Republicans wanted to curb the governor's emergency powers. Voters later decided in favor of those rollbacks in the May 2021 election.

Governor-elect Josh Shapiro will be inaugurated Tuesday.
It's the first time since 1966 a Pennsylvania governor has been succeeded by a member of the same political party.
