PA mask order not likely to lift before deadline

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf told the KDKA Radio Morning Show that the mask mandate will not likely be lifted before Monday, June 28.

At the end of May, the Wolf administration said the mask mandate in the state would be lifted by June 28 or before if the milestone of 70 percent adult vaccination was achieved.

"I think we're probably not gonna quite be at 70 percent," said Wolf. He said Pennsylvania is on pace to be in the low to mid-sixties by the time June 28 is here.

Wolf reiterated that the mask mandate will be lifted on June 28 regardless of where the vaccination percentage falls below 70 percent, but said if we get there before, it will be lifted then.

The original mask order in Pennsylvania was put into place early on in the COVID-19 pandemic by then Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine.

On May 31, all other COVID mitigation restriction put into place by the administration were lifted.
