Pennsylvania is set to receive around $450 million as part of a new settlement with CVS and Walgreens. The sum is set to be paid over the next 15 years.

Attorney General Josh Shapiro made the announcement today, as part of a multistate investigation into the opioid epidemic.

Shapiro says the agreement ensure residents will get treatment and recovery resources needed.

The investigation has resulted in over $54 billion in payments nationwide. CVS, Walgreens and Walmart will also be required to report suspicious activity related to opioid prescriptions.

States have until the end of the year to review the agreement. All funds must go to reducing the impact of the opioid crisis.
