PITTSBURGH (Newsradio KDKA) - Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf is offering five days of paid leave to state workers who get fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity put a $105 million price tag on the incentive, and said her office will not participate.
Wolf says the extra $105 million is already fixed into the budget.
"Does this mean that we overfunded our budgets by a $100 million?" Garrity said during the KDKA Radio Morning Show Thursday. "If people really have that much money padded in their budgets then they shouldn't budget that much."
Pennsylvania is almost 72% vaccinated against Covid, fifth in the nation.
"This is someone that said a few weeks ago that we didn't even want to do a raffle to incentivize getting the vaccine, and now miraculously we're suddenly deciding to give away five day?" Said Garrity. "It's still egregious."
