Fall enrollment at schools with the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education held steady at just under 83,000 students, with eight of its 10 universities seeing gains or maintaining stable headcount levels.
This stabilization is critical, as the system braces for an expected 10% decline in traditional high school graduates by 2040.
To support students through these demographic shifts, the PSSHE board has unanimously approved a request for a 5.5% increase in state funding to enable a tuition freeze for in-state undergraduates next fall.
