PITTSBURGH (Newsradio KDKA) - A state Republican and a Democrat are teaming up to push for recreational marijuana.
On Monday, Republican State Senator Mike Regan started circulating a memo to his colleagues to gain support for recreational cannabis, and yesterday, State Representative Amen Brown, a Democrat, did the same.
Senator Regan wrote an Op-ed this week that states legalizing recreational marijuana is inevitable.
The leader of Pennsylvania's 31st district said recreational marijuana would create a safer product and prevent black market leaders from prospering.
"They're turning over Fortune 500 company numbers and living like pharaohs, and they're cutting peoples heads off and hanging them from bridges," said Regan.
This is the state’s first bipartisan effort for such legislation.
