Pennsylvania lawmakers have been calling for an increase in the state's $7.25 an hour minimum wage, but now it's no longer just the Democrats.
According to the Post-Gazette, two GOP Senators, Dan Laughlin (Erie) and Pat Browne (Allentown), are proposing to introduce legislation that seeks to raise the minimum wage to $10 an hour and permanently index it to inflation. Governor Wolf has proposed raising it to $12 an hour this year, with annual increases until it reaches $15 in 2027.
The latest Franklin & Marshall College Poll showed 67% of the state's registered voters support increasing the state's minimum wage.
Pennsylvania's minimum wage has been held at$7.25 for nearly 12 years. It was raised from $7.15 to $7.25 in July 2009.
The federal minimum wage is also $7.25
