How to find out when you can get the COVID-19 vaccine in Pennsylvania

The Pennsylvania Department of Health has a new tool designed to help residents determine when they're eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

They're calling this new tool, "Your Turn."

"We do have a number of folks in Pennsylvania that are not aware of where they fall in that prioritization, so as an education tool absolutely it is necessary for folks," said the Pennsylvania Department of Health's Lindsey Mauldin.

"Your Turn" is meant to help Pennsylvanians understand where they fall in line for a COVID-19 vaccine. The state says the tool will replace the current eligibility quiz and will alert people when it's their turn to schedule a vaccine. It is not a wait list.

While frustration mounts among Pennsylvanians who qualify for Phase 1A looking for a covid-19 vaccine, those in phases beyond that may be wondering when they'll be eligible.

Mauldin says there's still no timeline for when the state may shift to Phase 1B. "It's gonna take approximately 8 million doses for the more than 4 million Pennsylvanians currently eligible to receive the vaccine in Phase 1A and so far Pennsylvania has only received about 2.4 million from the federal government."

Amid calls from some state lawmakers for a centralized vaccine registration system, the State Department of Health's Lindsey Mauldin says it's not going to solve the main issue. "We're dealing with a limited supply of vaccine coming into Pennsylvania. This is a problem that's happening all over the country and so a centralized registration wouldn't help with that issue, so we are working on again just providing awareness and communication."

She says the state still believes vaccine access for the general public is attainable by the summer.

"Since all seniors are currently eligible to be vaccinated, Pennsylvanians younger than 65 can use this tool to determine if it is their turn to receive the COVID-19 vaccine in Pennsylvania,” Acting Secretary of Health Alison Beam said. “When it is your turn, we will direct you on how to find a vaccine provider. If it is not your turn yet, you will be able to enter contact information to receive updates about vaccine distribution in Pennsylvania and for us to let you know when it is your turn to get vaccinated."
