Gov. Wolf provides update on COVID-19 vaccine distribution in PA

With COVID-19 vaccines in high demand across the state, thousands of Pennsylvanians have questioned how distribution is working.

Governor Tom Wolf told the KDKA radio morning show that the vaccine distribution has been determined by Operation Warp Speed and that Moderna and Pfizer are in charge of delivery to specific locations.

"Basically, that was established and set up without the state to go directly to these organizations that are in charge of the logistics," said Wolf.

Governor Wolf also cited the holidays and a transition of presidential administrations as reasons why the country is so far behind its goal of vaccinations.

On Monday, Pennsylvania House Majority Leader Kerry Benninghoff wrote a letter to Health Secretary Dr. Rachel Levine asking her to update the state's vaccine timeline plan to push lawmakers and other state officials down on the list, only making the vaccine available to them when it's available to the general public.

"Regardless of supply, we should not be advanced before the general public and certainly should not be able to receive this vaccine at the same time as at-risk populations."

Last week, the Wolf administration updated the COVID-19 vaccine schedule for the state to be more aligned with recommendations from national health organizations.
