"The PITT” was nominated for 25 Emmy Awards, winning two on Monday night.
The wins were for major Emmys: Best Drama and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for Noah Wyle.
“I grew up in L.A., I’m a Hollywood kid, I was raised on a television and movie theaters were my place of worship,” said Wyle. “This is all I’ve ever wanted to do and this is the only club I’ve ever wanted to join. Thank you for accepting me.”
Executive Producer R. Scott Gemmill accepted the Best Drama trophy and took time to thank frontline workers.
“We’ve always tried to be really authentic and tell stories about the real-life heroes of the emergency department who are there for us day in and day out,” said Gemmill.
The show takes place inside a fictional hospital in Pittsburgh, based off Allegheny General Hospital in the North Side.
Allegheny Health Network professionals have praised “The PITT” for its accurate portrayal of emergency rooms.
Season three of “The PITT” will be released on HBO Max in January.
