A red flag weather day in PA means threat of fire

There's an elevated risk of wildfire spread today and, as a result, a Red Flag Warning is in effect thru 8 tonight for all of the Commonwealth.

Conditions are ideal: a combination of low humidity, gusty winds up to 30 mph possible and warm temperatures.

The National Weather Service is asking for your help.

Meteorologist Michael Brown says, “properly discard cigarettes, avoid any activities with open flames or open sparks, avoid power equipment particularly if it creates spark, obey any burn bans that are in effect and if you see smoke, make sure you call it in.”

Baldwin Police suspect six brush fires on Tuesday may have been intentionally set.

They're asking residents with outdoor-facing cameras to review video from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

here's also an elevated risk of wildfire spread across northern West Virginia and eastern Ohio.
