Reports say July will be the hottest month ever recorded on Earth, the hottest in 120,000 years.

That's the word from the UN's World Meteorological Organization.

But, not everyone is on board. AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Joe Lundberg points out one of many exceptions in the US.

“We obviously, conveniently forgotten the 1930s, where we had a bunch of records that were set all over the place that still exist throughout the plains states,” said Lundberg.

Those record high temperatures contributed to the “dust bowl” of the 1930s

On the Big K Morning Show, Joe Lundberg said he's skeptical of climate estimates going back 120-thousand years. He says modern record keeping of weather data started just 143 years ago. About today's conditions, with Real Feel readings around 100?

“It’s July for goodness sakes, it’s supposed to be hot this time of year,” said Lundberg.

Expect thunderstorms to move in Friday night and early Saturday.
