What's Good In Your Hood: Dayna Delgado, The Dragon's Den

When you talk about Homestead, what do you think about? Old factories, run down houses, crime.

Sometimes you associate the Waterfront with Homestead but not really. When I travel through Homestead, I see businesses that used to be vibrant and just a small town. What I didn't know is that Homestead is a diamond in the rough.

The people who live in Homestead are hard working men and women who own their homes, are business owners and work hard to protect the legacy that is Homestead.

That was my focus this week when I sat down with my good friend Dayna Delgado who is one of the programming directors at the Dragon's Den which is located right in the heart of Homestead.

Dayna grew up in Homestead and she currently lives there now so she knows the history of the neighborhood and is excited about what the Dragon's Den is doing for children and families.

The Dragon's Den has transformed a decaying, historic building into a vibrant community center that fosters team-building, experiential learning, and self-development.

The Den has after school activities, promotes physical and mental health awareness exercises and it's engaging for people of all ages!

You have to check out the Dragon's Den the next time you're in Homestead! My one on one will be live on KDKARadio.com tomorrow! So make sure you log on to hear all about it!

Next week, I'm talking to Jay White of Jay White Digital Media.
He created his own media company for engineers, producers, artists, actors (of color) who wouldn't be considered or find it hard to be recognized for some of the filmmaking projects that take place in Pittsburg, because those projects go to the popular film companies in the city. So he saw a void and worked hard to represent his community!

Hear more about what he's doing for our youth who aspire to be the next Viola Davis or Lee Daniels! Next week on KDKARadio.com!
