New York (WBEN) - What comes next for the Cuomo administration after Last week's revelation that the administration purposefully withheld certain nursing home data?

The first steps in Albany may be to strip the Governor's emergency powers, or at least threaten to do so.

"The legislature, my experience would say they'll try to gauge their response a little at a time and hope that each action brings the temperature down," said Political Strategist Carl Calabrese. "The first action will be to try to rescind all or some of those emergency powers... The person to watch is (NY Attorney General) Letitia James. If she calls for a Grand Jury or she calls for a special prosecutor, that will be a game changer."

Calabrese said that will also be an indication the State Attorney General is planning to challenge Cuomo in a primary, something national observers are expecting to happen even after the Governor raised his profile over the past year.

"So much of this depends on who challenges him," said national political analyst Steve Roberts. "All executives at some point, you know Cuomo's been around a long time and inevitably you pick up scars and you make enemies, the most resident slogan in American politics is 'It's time for a change.' That's built into out DNA. Even the most popular Governors eventually wear out their welcome and it sounds to me like that's what's happening to Andrew Cuomo."

Already, 14 Democrat State Senators have advocated for removing Cuomo's emergency powers before they expire in March.
