PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Pitt’s win over Florida State not only got them back into the receiving votes in the Coaches’ Top 25 football poll, but three players earned conference recognition.
ACC Quarterback of the Week
Last week in his first college start, Panthers freshman Mason Heintschel was named the ACC Rookie of the Week. Saturday in Tallahassee, he was 21-29 for 321 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for a career-high 64 yards. His 385 combined yards was sixth nationally.
ACC Receiver of the Week
Not often a running back wins a receiving award, but in his return from injury, Desmond Reid had 155 yards receiving and a pair of touchdowns. His 200 scrimmage yards led the conference last week and was third nationally. Reid led all FBS running backs in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns last week.
ACC Linebacker of the Week
Already the second time this season, junior Kyle Louis is honored after 11 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss. It’s his first double-digit tackle total of the season.
