PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – A conference record seven touchdown passes in a game earned Pitt quarterback Mason Heintschel the ACC Quarterback of the Week Award along with some national recognition Tuesday.
Heintschel went 31 of 41 for 453 yards, seven touchdowns, no turnovers and a 224.76 passer-efficiency rating in the Panthers 59-14 opening win over Miami (Ohio) on Saturday.
The sophomore quarterback was also named one of the Manning Award’s Eight Stars of the Week and to the Davey O’Brien Great 8 for Week 1.
Seven different receivers caught the seven touchdowns that also tied a Pitt record for most TD passes in a game (Pete Gonzalez, 1997).
