2021 Hall of Fame inductee Alan Faneca has announced his “great friend and teammate” Hines Ward will induct him into Canton this August.

The former Steelers guard made the announcement through Instagram and shared his FaceTime conversation with Ward after telling him of his pick.

“What? oh wow, you’re going to get me all nervous and stuff,” said Ward. “it would truly be an honor to do that that would be a blessing man, I appreciate that.”

Both Faneca and Ward were selected by the Steelers in the 1998. Faneca went in the first round with ward being selected in the third.

Faneca played 13 season in the NFL, 10 as a Steelers and helped the team capture its 5th world title in Super Bowl XL.

Faneca was a first round pick of the Steelers in 1998.  The LSU star missed one game in his career and was selected to nine consecutive Pro Bowls in his 13 years in the NFL.

Ward was a semi-finalist again and for a fifth time did not make the cut as a finalist.

If you ask Faneca who should be included in next year’s class Ward is at the top of his list.

Speaking to the “Eye Test for Two” podcast selection, Faneca says, “He absolutely, 100 percent deserves it.”

Last week, it was revealed that Ward will join Florida Atlantic University's coaching staff.

Joining Faneca in the Hall is Steelers’ “super scout” Bill Nunn being inducted under the Contributor category posthumously.

Charles Woodson, Tom Flores, John Lynch, Drew Pearson, Calvin Johnson and Peyton Manning are the other inductees.

He 2021 Hall of Fame class will be inducted on August 8 with the 2020 class (delayed due to the pandemic) being inducted on August 7. Troy Polamalu, Bill Cowher and Donnie Shell are among those inductees.

Steelers president Art Rooney II will induct Cowher into Canton.
