Whelp, it looks like the Cincinnati Bengals all but guaranteed they’re losing to the Steelers this Sunday thanks to the curse of the Terrible Towel.

On Tuesday, the official Bengals Twitter account posted a gif of former wide receiver T.J. Houshmanzadeh wiping his cleats with the Towel after scoring a touchdown against the Steelers in 2005.

The Bengals won that Week 13 game at Heinz Field 38-31 but would go on to lose as many games in the next five weeks as they had the first 12 of the season.

Oh, then in the playoffs, they played the Steelers again and lost the Wild Card game 31-17. The Steelers would go on to win their 5th championship in franchise history.

So with posting the video of Houshmanzadeh, the Bengals may have doomed themselves, whether or not Ben Roethlisberger is able to play.

Teams in the past that have defiled the Terrible Towel quickly learned it does more harm than good.

Portions of the proceeds from the sale of the Terrible Towel benefits the Allegheny Valley School, an organization that helps adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Pittsburgh area and all throughout Pennsylvania. For more information, visit their website.
