On Thursday morning, the first-ballot Hall of Famer said “I would say that all signs are pointing to this could be it,” referencing Monday night being his final home game as the Steelers quarterback.

With Roethlisberger hanging up his cleats, he’ll go down as one of the better quarterbacks in NFL history, but where does he rank.

Fan NFL Insider John Clayton says he sees Roethlisberger around 10th or 11th.

To put some perspective to that, Clayton says that Roethlisberger is ahead of retired Saints quarterback Drew Brees.

“He’s higher than Drew Brees,” said Clayton.

That’s pretty high praise considering Brees is only second in passing yards all-time, is a Super Bowl Champion, is a 13-time Pro Bowler and is an All-Pro.

So why does Clayton take Ben over Brees?

“The games that Ben has won,” said Clayton “You go back over Drew Brees’ career and some of the playoff games on the road, he wasn’t as good as Ben was, you know for example I remember when Pete Carroll got started out (in Seattle) and the Seahawks when 7 and 9, here’s Drew Brees out here and you know “Beastmode” Marshawn Lynch has the big run that won the game.”

Basically Roethlisberger has performed well when he has needed to, especially in the playoffs and Brees would collapse.
