Cole, Benton added to Steelers injury report

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – A few key Steelers players were listed as not being able to practice on Monday and there is more to it than that.

The NFL requires that teams playing on Thursday night to release a practice report on Monday even though the Steelers did not practice. Though this is only an estimate of who may have been out there, it does give you a glimpse of guys who may struggle to play in the short turnaround.

The newest member of the injury list is center Mason Cole. He has played 1,864 snaps in 29 games with the Steelers, but the team now lists him as having a neck injury. Had they practiced, he would have been limited on Monday. Also limited, and new to the injury report, defensive tackle Keeanu Benton with an oblique.

Those the Steelers don't believe would have practiced on Monday

·      QB Kenny Pickett (ankle)-already ruled out

·      LB Elandon Roberts (groin)-likely out Thursday

·      G Isaac Seumalo (shoulder)

·      CB James Pierre (shoulder)

·      DT Cam Heyward (rest)

·      CB Patrick Peterson (rest)

Two with previous injuries would have practiced full in the Steelers estimation-Minkah Fitzpatrick (with the hand injury, no issue with the previous hamstring ailment) and Montravius Adams, who is looking to return from the ankle injury.

Steelers will hold a legitimate practice on Tuesday with more updates before the Patriots game Thursday night.
