Earlier this week at the NFL Owner’s meeting in Orlando, Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin said that Russell Wilson is in “pole position” for the starting job over Justin Fields.
His comments led some to say that means the door is open for Fields to out-perform Wilson in Training Camp and take the QB1 job going into the season.
On NFL Total Access Tuesday, former NFL quarterback David Carr pointed to how Lamar Jackson is successful and how Fields has similar talents.
“Justin Fields is going to be the starter Week One,” said Carr.
But Fan Morning Show host Adam Crowley says there is no way in hell that is happening. He’s so confident that it won’t be Fields, that he’ll shave his head if it happens.
If Wilson is injured and is unable to play…that doesn’t count.
“I am so confident that (Fields) is not going to be the Steelers starting quarterback Week One just based on the way Mike Tomlin talked the other day . . . if he is the starting quarterback Week One, Justin Fields, I will shave my head again,” said Crowley.
Fellow host Dorin Dickerson said Crowley’s hair is safe.
“There’s no way he can beat Russell Wilson out,” said Dickerson. “He can’t beat him out in OTAs, you’re not going to beat him out in Training Camp, you’re not going to beat him out in preseason.”
Crowley says Fields turns the ball over too often for Tomlin.
If Fields does start, Crowley says they’ll make shaving his head a charity event.
