PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Early last year he looked to be a big find for the Pirates, 1-0, 0.51 ERA and 0.96 WHIP. Now right-handed reliever Justin Lawrence has been released by his third team this season.

Lawrence first pitched in 23 games in 2026 with the Pirates going 0-2 with a 5.32 ERA and 1.55 WHIP. While at one time dominant against righties, Lawrence struggled against both side of the plate this season. His manager in 2025 took a chance on him with the Twins, he would last six innings, giving up 10 runs, an 18.00 ERA and 3.17 WHIP. Washington, who leads the majors in blown saves, was next, but Lawrence was released Tuesday after 6.1 innings with a 4.26 ERA and 2.21 WHIP.

The 31-year-old has pitched in 236 career MLB games going 13-15 with a 5.34 ERA and 1.61 WHIP.
