During his first news conference of the season, Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin announced starting left guard Isaac Seumalo will be OUT on Sunday during the team’s first game in Atlanta.
There was good news though, Tomlin said about Seumalo’s pectoral injury
He says they are considering Seumalo out “week-to-week” and will see what happens next week.
“Really optimistic about his return sooner rather than later,” said Tomlin.
After the injury, it was feared Seumalo could miss the season, but several reports since have downplayed the severity of the injury.
Spencer Anderson will start in place of Seumalo.
Tomlin also talked about other injured players including rookie left tackle Troy Fautanu and rookie wide receiver Roman Wilson.
He said both were limited during practice Monday and that their work will hopefully continue to increase as the week goes on.
“We’re optimistic about both guys,” said Tomlin.
Tomlin also mentioned running back Jaylen Warren and said he is in a similar situation to Wilson and Fautanu.
Warren told reporters on Monday he expects to play Sunday.
Second-string Cory Trice Jr. is also banged up, according to Tomlin.
