PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – You'll hear from many players that they don't listen to the media. They say they don't watch or read stories about their team.
A moment of truth from veteran Steelers corner Joe Haden Wednesday after practice. He admitted he watched the Mike Tomlin news conference Tuesday and loved what happened at the end.
Mike Tomlin asked about the speculation, most recently from former USC quarterback Carson Palmer about Tomlin being a potential candidate for their open job. Earlier it was speculated about LSU holding potential interest in Tomlin.
If you missed it, here is what Tomlin said.
"I mean that's a joke to me, I got one of the best jobs in all of professional sport. Why would I have any interest in coaching college football.
"That will be the last time that I address it and not only today but moving forward, never say never but never."
"There's not a booster with a blank check big enough. Anybody asking Sean Payton about that? Anybody asking Andy Reid about stuff like that?"
It's created quite a response. To Haden, it's the quintessential Tomlin.
"Like I always tell everybody, the team meetings, he just knows how to carry himself," Haden said. "Be a man, address issues, shut stuff down. That's another reason I was watching that interview just smiling from ear-to-ear. Look at coach, handling business."
Haden is in his fifth year with Tomlin and loves his passion. He also says his head coach is a great example.
"When your coach carries himself like that," Haden said. "He's just a leader of men. He does everything the right way. I love Coach Tomlin and everything he stands for."
