The “history-making” Steelers defense is one of the worst in the NFL through two games.
Now, we’re only two games into the season but:
The Steelers are 29th in scoring defense with 31.5 point per game.
They’ve allowed 27.9 points per game over the last 10, including A brutal playoff loss to the Ravens, giving up 186 yards on the ground to Derrick Henry and 464 total yards in that game.
The Steelers defense has given up 30 points in back-to-back games to start the season for the first time in over 20 years, and over 100 yards rushing given up in the first two games, the first time in Tomlin’s tenure.
Sam Darnold had almost 300 yards passing… SAM DARNOLD, not Patrick Mahomes.
Kenneth Walker not Derrick Henry has 105 yards rushing, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba had 103 yards receiving.
No offense to the Seahawks offense weapons but there are not the big names of the NFL working over the Steelers’ defense
It’s only two games into the season, but when you go back to last season, it’s a concerning pattern and it appears to be who they are.
The highest-paid defense, by far, in the NFL has big names like Cam Heyward, T.J. Watt, Darrius Slay, Jalen Ramsey and more and this still happens.
So, what’s the problem? Dorin Dickerson says it all boils down to the coaching and to the scheme and that rests on defensive coordinator Teryl Austin and head coach Mike Tomlin, who is supposed to be the defensive guru.
