Dulac says it's safe to assume Steelers will pick up Tomlin's 2027 option

There was a lot of heat on Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin and his job security last week after a disastrous loss to the Buffalo Bills a home.

But after a big divisional win this past Sunday against the Baltimore Ravens, the heat on Tomlin has cooled a bit.

But, according to the Post-Gazette’s Gerry Dulac, barring a complete collapse, Tomlin’s job is his as long as he wants it.

In his weekly Steelers chat, Dulac said “correct” after a reader asked “Can we all just agree that no matter what the outcome was last Sunday, the Steelers were always going to pick up MT’s option in March, and he was never getting fired. Barring some crazy complete downfall, this is his job until HE decides he’s done with it.”

Reports came out over the weekend that the Steelers have until March to pick up a club option for 2027.

If they don’t pick it up, that would mean next season would be Tomlin’s last, on his current deal.

Joe Starkey says the Steelers “could lose the rest of their games 100 to nothing and it’ll still be his job.”

Starkey also believe that there is no doubt that Tomlin’s 2027 club option will be picked up and that it’s his job until he wants to stop coaching the Steelers.
