Jamel Dean gets $36 million to be Steelers starting corner

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – He’s entering his age 30 season, but corner Jamel Dean was ranked as the fifth-best corner in the NFL in 2025 by Pro Football Focus. NFL Network reports the contract is three-years, $36.75 million.

6’1”, 206 pounds, Dean started all 14 games he played last year with three interceptions including a Pick 6, nine passes defensed and 46 tackles (38 solo). His pass completions against were a career-best 49.2%. The former Auburn star has given up one touchdown in his last two seasons, 26 games. Dean has battled injuries in his career, having never played a full season in seven years in the NFL.

In 96 games, Dean has 11 interceptions and 61 passes defensed with 359 tackles, seven tackles for loss and three forced fumbles.

Dean will likely start across from Joey Porter, Junior who is entering the final year of his contract with Asante Samuel, Junior returning with fourth-year corner Corey Trice.
