Batman’s a man of the people.

Former Pirates pitcher A.J. Burnett, known affectionally as Batman sometimes for his love of the caped crusader spent some time with fans before Friday’s Home Opener at PNC Park.

Burnett was seen walking down Federal Street on Friday and mingled with Pirates fans outside of Mike’s Beer Bar, across the street from PNC Park.

He took some time to talk to fans and gave some high fives as he made it way toward the park in a “Cutch Happens” shirt.

No word on if he shared a beer or two with fans.

Burnett is throwing out the first pitch ahead of the 4:12 p.m. start against the Chicago White Sox.

Burnett mentioned on 93.7 The Fan after the Pirates re-signed Andrew McCutchen that he’d love to be in town for his first game back in Pittsburgh.

To make the occasion even better, former catcher Russell Martin will be the one catching Burnett’s first pitch.

Burnett has spoken several times about his love and connection to Pittsburgh after he came to Pittsburgh in 2012, spending the 2013 and 2015 season with the Pirates before retiring.
