It's the third edition of the KDKA Radio Super 7 Basketball Watch List!
Throughout the 2021-2022 high school basketball season, KDKA Radio will recognizes some of the top boys and girls basketball players from the WPIAL and Pittsburgh City League.
At the end of the season, along with a fan vote, the KDKA Radio high school sports staff will name the Super 7 Basketball award winners.
This week features a pair of talented multi-sport athletes and two players leading northern suburb programs to the top spots in their sections.
Alex Smith, North Hills
The second member of the unbeaten Indians to make the KDKA Radio Watch List, Smith is having an excellent season.
On Friday, in the KDKA Radio Game of the Week, Smith kept true to his scoring average of 20 points per game by dropping 20 more points in a 80-68 win at Pine-Richland.
He scored eight points in the fourth quarter, helping the Indians rally back from down 11 points to move to 13-0 on the season.
Smith is a senior and four-year starter whose older brother, Nick, starred at North Hills and is now at DII power Nova Southeastern.
Dacia Lewandowski, North Catholic
Lewandowski is the current leader of the top girls program in WPIAL history.
The junior point guard has shined for the Trojanettes since her freshman season, already earning college offers from Akron, Toledo, Marshall, Stony Brook, Hofstra, Monmouth, Mount Saint Mary's, UMass Lowell, Western Carolina, Oakland, Manhattan and Navy.
On Thursday, she scored 18 points to carry North Catholic to a 52-47 win over Freedom, taking control of Section 1-3A.
Lewandowski's dad, Joe, is the head men's basketball coach at Point Park University and her sister, Kylee, plays for Richmond.
Rodney Gallagher, Laurel Highlands
Gallagher is no stranger to KDKA Watch Lists. The junior was a finalist for the Class 4A football Watch List and is one of the top football recruits in the country.
But Gallagher burst onto the scene as a freshman on the hardwood, helping Laurel Highlands to a WPIAL title.
Last week, Gallagher proved that, despite a future on the gridiron, he is still a difference maker on the court.
Gallagher scored 16 points in a huge win over a talented Belle Vernon team on Tuesday.
He followed that up Friday by dropping 31 points in a non-section victory over Class 6A Norwin.
Gallagher and his teammates will be featured on KDKA Radio Friday in the Game of the Week, as the Mustangs visit Thomas Jefferson.
Payton List, Beaver
List is one of the best overall athletes the WPIAL has produced in years.
A Virginia Tech softball commit, she is also a dynamic volleyball player and a star on the basketball court.
Last season, she helped take the Bobcats to a WPIAL title in Class 4A and a 20-1 record.
On Thursday, List scored 34 points to beat Hopewell, 59-34. Beaver is now 7-3 this season and 4-1 in Section 2.
Friday night, be sure to tune into 1020-AM and 100.1 FM NewsRadio KDKA for coverage of Thomas Jefferson vs Laurel Highlands.
