We're a month into KDKA Radio's coverage of the 2021-2022 WPIAL basketball season, and our weekly look at the area's top girls and boys continues with the KDKA Radio Basketball Watch List.
Throughout the 2021-2022 high school basketball season, KDKA Radio will recognizes some of the top boys and girls basketball players from the WPIAL and Pittsburgh City League.
At the end of the season, along with a fan vote, the KDKA Radio high school sports staff will name the Super 7 Basketball award winners.
This week, we feature three Division I commits, as well as one of the top players on what is arguably the WPIAL's most talented boys team.
Brandon Davis, Laurel Highlands
Last week, the Watch List highlighted Laurel Highlands junior standout Rodney Gallagher. Now we salute one of Gallagher's talented classmates in Davis.
On Friday, Davis scored 14 points in a 75-41 runaway win over Thomas Jefferson in a game you heard on NewsRadio KDKA. Earlier in the week, Davis put up 24 in a 75-59 win over Uniontown.
Davis is scoring over 17 points per game this season for the unbeaten Mustangs.
Ashleigh Connor, Mt. Lebanon
Connor is one of the top girls basketball shooters in the WPIAL and has been getting it done since an early age.
As a junior she scored over 21 points per game, earning numerous scholarship offers before committing to St. Louis of the Atlantic 10 in August.
On Thursday, Connor scored 22 points as Mt. Lebanon remained unbeaten with a 54-48 win over Baldwin.
Adou Thiero, Quaker Valley
After bursting onto the scene as just a freshman three years ago, Thiero is now pacing a very talented Quaker Valley team.
On Saturday, in the Pittsburgh Basketball Club Classic, Thiero had one of his best performances of the season against a strong Class 5A squad in Highlands.
Thiero scored 40 points, rallying Quaker Valley from a 19-point first half deficit to top Highlands, 83-75. Thiero hit the go-ahead shot in the comeback effort with 2:13 remaining.
A 6-6 guard, Thiero has offers from UC Santa Barbara and LIU and is scoring 24.5 points per game this season.
Corynne Hauser, Rochester
Hauser is one of the top girls basketball recruits the region, committing to Kent State in September.
After scoring nearly 20 points per game last year and racking up almost 1,200 career points in her first three seasons, Hauser his again leading the Rams' attack.
On Thursday, she scored 25 points to lead Rochester to a 63-16 win over Cornell.
Hauser chose Kent State over several other Division I offers, including Duquesne.
