Section rematches got going in the WPIAL this past week. Across the region, there were numerous standout individual performances as the push towards the postseason spots began in full.

This season, KDKA Radio will again nominate players each week to join the KDKA Radio Super 7 Awards watch list. Every Monday, a new crop of players will be unveiled based on their efforts that previous week. At the end of the year, KDKA Radio will announce the winners of the award for each WPIAL boys and girls classification, as well as the Pittsburgh City League.

Here are the top performances from Week 6:

Jayden Davis, Chartiers Valley

One of the WPIAL's most dynamic scorers, Davis is again having a strong year, averaging around 23 points per game.

This past week, he triple downed with three big scoring outputs in victories for the Colts.

On Monday, Davis started his big week with 36 points in a 68-65 win over Mars. He followed up Thursday with 22 more points in a 66-30 runaway victory over West Allegheny. And, on Saturday, the senior dropped 26 points in a 76-48 win over Thomas Jefferson.

Chartiers Valley has rebounded nicely from a sub-.500 season last year with a 14-1 start to this season.

Michelle Jellison, Elizabeth Forward

Elizabeth Forward continued to own the top spot of Section 3-4A with a pair of wins over the last week.

On Monday, Jellison went for 16 points in a 49-43 win over South Park in a battle for first place in the section. She followed that performance with 23 points in a commanding 66-17 victory over Southmoreland Friday.

The Warriors are now 9-3 and 6-0 in the section.

Jellison, a senior, has picked up offers from La Roche, Elmira, Carlow, W&J and Geneva College.

Zach Pollaro, North Hills

North Hills has quite literally saved its season over the last ten days.

The Indians, which got off to a 2-10 start, have now won three straight games, including a massive section victory Friday night.

Pollaro, a senior, has led the way, scoring 29 points on Monday in a 82-56 blowout of Woodland Hills and then scoring 32 in a 69-55 upset of New Castle Friday.

In the win over New Castle, Pollaro eclipsed 1,000 points in his career.

Emma Larkin, Geibel Catholic

Over the last couple of seasons, Larkin has become one of the very elite scorers in WPIAL girls basketball. She showed why once again last week.

Larkin, a junior, scored 28 points on Monday in an impressive 61-36 win over Serra Catholic. She followed that up Saturday by going for 33 in a 54-35 win over West Greene.

With the win, Geibel moved to 14-1 on the year, with a 7-1 mark in section play.

Larkin is currently the second-leading scorer in the WPIAL, averaging around 25 points per game.

High school basketball broadcasts continue on KDKA Radio Friday as Woodland Hills takes on Fox Chapel. Coverage begins at 6 p.m. on 100.1 FM and AM 1020 KDKA.
