A clutch passing performance, a record-long run and a pair of three-touchdown games highlighted the second week of high school football in Western PA this week, as all teams took the field for the first time.

Throughout the season, KDKA Radio will put together a watch list of some of the best players in the region. At the end of the year, the top performer from each WPIAL classification, and one member of the Pittsburgh City League, will receive the prestigious KDKA Super 7 Award.

Here are the top showings from Week 1:

Devin Harris, Shady Side Academy

It appears that Shady Side Academy may be in for a special season, and it's underclassmen leading the way for the Bulldogs.

On Friday, they pulled off an impressive early season win, defeating North Catholic, 34-28, in overtime. Harris, a sophomore quarterback, passed for a WPIAL Week 1 high 361 yards and four touchdowns.

His favorite target was freshman Carter Bonner, who caught ten passes for 138 yards and two scores – including the 10-yard game-winner.

Aaran Randolph, Highlands

Randolph has shown a big play ability throughout his high school career, but none of his electrifying touchdowns have been as 'big' as what he did Friday.

The senior ran for 265 yards and three touchdowns, including a WPIAL record-tying 99-yard touchdown run, as the Golden Rams topped Blackhawk 33-20, moving to 2-0 on the year.

Last season, Randolph accounted for over 800 yards of offense and scored 13 touchdowns.

Scoop Smith, Woodland Hills

Here's the scoop: Woodland Hills has some serious talent on the outside of its offense.

Only a sophomore, Scoop Smith is a diminutive, yet explosive receiver for the Wolverines, and he gave Gateway fits Friday night.

Smith caught four passes for 120 yards and three touchdowns in a surprising 27-0 win over the Gators.

The three-sport athlete has received offers from Nebraska, UNLV and Toledo, and has also received a basketball scholarship offer from Stony Brook.

Vinny Sarcone, Peters Township

Playing up a classification, Peters Township made a statement Friday, running away with a 48-7 victory over Class 6A Seneca Valley.

Sarcone led the charge, rushing for 137 yards and three touchdowns, pushing the Indians to 2-0 on the year. Peters Township has outscored its first two opponents 83-7.

Also a standout pitcher, Sarcone has committed to Allegheny College for baseball.

The high school football season continues Friday, as KDKA Radio will once again provide award-winning broadcast coverage of the region's biggest game of the week. This week, you can hear McKeesport at Belle Vernon on 100.1 FM and 1020 AM KDKA Radio. Follow @KDKARadio on X and Instagram for updates throughout the night.
